The final weeks of the school year can really drag out. So how do you keep your energy up until the finish line?

It’s normal to start running low near the end of the year. There’s exams, planning for next year; and generally, life seems to get a bit hectic.

But we promise you, a little extra effort can go a long way.

Here’s some tips to give you a boost.

Change up your routine

Eat, sleep, school, repeat. Makes sense why you’re feeling unmotivated.

Make things exciting again by switching up your routine. Change where or when you do your homework or try a new sport/activity in your spare time to break things up.

Pro tip – as a start, try going to bed early, getting enough sleep, eating a good breakfast and see how you feel.

Focus on your goals and make some new ones

Always remember what’s at the finish line for you – maybe that’s an ATAR, or the awesome feeling of finishing the school year. Each day you push forward, the closer you get.

If those goals feel too far away, focus on what’s closer – what’s one big thing you could achieve by the end of the day, tomorrow or the end of the week? Remember, education isn’t just a grade or exit score, focus on what your education can give you every day and make some goals around that.

Take care of yourself

Staying healthy and having good energy levels will help you stay focused and motivated.

Try exercising and be sure to give yourself some downtime as well.

Stop procrastinating

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. Once you get going, you’ll find the momentum and motivation builds. We’ve got some separate tips to help if you’re struggling to get stuff done or are being easily distracted.

Set up a reward system for yourself

That’s right – treat yourself!

It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, it could be taking time out to watch your favourite show, reading or playing a game.

So pick a couple of things on your to-do-list and when they’re done, reward yourself. If going to school everyday is a struggle, it’s okay to reward yourself for going!

Remember – It won’t last forever

You’re on the home stretch! Focus on one day at a time and you’ll find time going a lot faster. Don’t get to the end and wish you had tried a bit harder, give it your best shot while you can. Besides, how good will the holidays feel knowing you gave it your all?

Good luck and keep going! You won’t regret it!
